During Holy Week, as part of our Lent devotions with Lectio 365

“Desert Fathers and Mothers”

we are setting aside three mornings to give space to deeper encounters with Jesus in the Desert.

We’d love you to join us on 31st March - 1st April at 9:30-1pm, for a few quiet hours to encounter Jesus in Bible passages, poetry and music, and meditations. We will finish with a simple lunch together.

The retreat is free and will be hosted at Urban Abbey. There will be a small suggested donation to go towards the cost of lunch. You can sign up here - please book into each of the days you plan to attend.

Spring Term 2026

Here’s our steady rhythm for the next few months.

Hope you’ll be able to join in with some aspects of our latest programme - just drop us a note if you have any questions

Practice 1- Prayer & Worship

We punctuate our working weekdays with prayer & worship, re-calibrating our lives in God’s presence regularly each day. We pray for the peace and prosperity of our city using the Daily Bell. And we support city-wide prayer initiatives. The house offers corporate prayer, and there are also spaces for private prayer.

Practice 2- Community & Hospitality

Community is a call to love and to unity. We intentionally commit to living as a community, generously sharing life with others, and positively connecting with the local community around us. We open ourselves to receive from others with humility and thanks. We have regular Open Table meals, most of which you can see on the Term Programme.

Practice 3- Mission & Discipleship

The prayer community is outward looking, engaging with the city of which we are a part, as the hands and feet of Jesus. We look to live openly with our neighbours and nearby schools as we actively participate in the life of the local community, welcoming input and help. We’re committed to learning together– growing to realise all of the rich potential that’s in our community.
